Bahari School of Ministry offers institutional scholarships to recognize and support students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to service in their communities.
Imani Men's Fellowship Scholarship
This scholarship supports African descended male students who show strong potential for leadership in ministry as service, community engagement, or culturally grounded educational practice. "Imani," meaning faith in Swahili, reflects the perseverance and resilience expected of award recipients. Selection is based on academic achievement, evidence of character centered leadership, and a clear commitment to serving and uplifting communities through scholarship, mentorship, or creative practice. Funds may be used for tuition, course materials, and approved projects that build capacity for service and leadership.
Kumusha Scholarship
Named with the Shona term "Kumusha," meaning homeland or place of origin, this scholarship supports adult learners ages fifty and above who are returning to formal study with a renewed sense of purpose. The award recognizes the wisdom, life experience, and community insight that mature students bring to Bahari School of Ministry. Recipients demonstrate steady academic commitment, clarity of vocational goals, and a record of service or leadership within their families, communities, or congregations. Funds may be applied to tuition, required texts, and approved learning resources that strengthen lifelong learning.
Augusta Mayes Jr. Scholarship
This institutional award honors the legacy of Augusta Mayes Jr., whose life reflected intellectual rigor, steadfast service to community, and an abiding commitment to educational access. The Scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic excellence, strong writing ability, and a clear vocational purpose within Bahari's mission. Recipients are selected based on demonstrated leadership potential, a record of service in their communities, and a commitment to advancing humane, culturally grounded ministry as service. Funds may be applied to tuition, required course materials, and approved learning experiences that strengthen a student's academic and professional formation.
Richard D. Weedman Scholarship
This institutional award commemorates Richard D. Weedman, whose lifetime of creative vision, administrative mastery, and dedication to cultural stewardship helped shape transformative artistic and educational endeavors. Thescholarshipsupports students who show promise in arts integrated ministry, cultural leadership, or community centered creative practice. Recipients are chosen for excellence in academic study, originality in artistic or interpretive work, and a demonstrated commitment to using the arts to advance healing, service, and human flourishing. Funds may be used for tuition, learning materials, artistic projects embedded in coursework, and approved community service or cultural research activities.
