About Bahari School of Ministry
The Bahari School of Ministry (BSOM) is an online university launching in October 2025, offering certificate and degree programs rooted in African oceanic wisdom. Designed for those serving urban port cities and coastal diasporic communities, BSOM combines spiritual formation, cultural engagement, and digital innovation. With affordable, flexible learning and no student loans required, BSOM empowers students to lead in humanitarian and community-focused roles.
Launching in October 2025, BSOM will begin by offering professional certificate programs that deliver immediate, applicable knowledge and skills. These certificates support advancement in current positions, open doors to new opportunities, and are fully stackable toward degree completion.
Our academic model features 4-week online terms with rolling admissions, enabling students to begin their studies year-round. We offer degree completion pathways for those with prior learning and experience, along with accelerated degree options for learners ready to fast-track their education.
We are committed to affordable, accessible learning. No student loans are required, and generous institutional scholarships make it possible for students to complete their studies without long-term debt.

"Bahari"
means ocean in Swahili. It represents more than geography—it reflects a lineage of movement, memory, and meaning. At BSOM, ministry means service. We prepare students to lead in humanitarian and community contexts, guided by ancestral knowledge, technological fluency, and a deep sense of place.
Whether you’re called to community healing, cultural preservation, education, or leadership, BSOM offers you a virtual port for transformation and service—centered on the urgent needs and creative potential of urban port cities and coastal diasporic communities.
