Institutional Goals
Our institutional goals reflect our mission
Cultural Traditions
To affirm African and diasporic cultural traditions by preparing students whose work in ministry is rooted in history, community storytelling, and creative practice.
Community Transformation
To build capacity for community transformation by equipping students with applied skills in wellness, education, organizing, and heritage leadership, supported by emerging technologies.
Expanding Knowledge
To expand knowledge across disciplines by centering African-diasporic contributions to public health, memory work, performance, civic identity, and digital preservation.
Global Perspective
To cultivate a global perspective that embraces the movement of African-descended peoples and the continuing cultural exchanges across port cities, archipelagos, and riverways.
To prepare every student to leave ready to engage in a ministry, whether through education, cultural work, healing practice, or public service—guided by cultural fluency, historical knowledge, and technological skill.
